Charity Maize Maze Day @ Carrowmena in Memory of Willis Vogel

Carrowmena are hoping to raise vital funds for a great cause on 23rd August 2020. All proceeds going to Air Ambulance NI.

Air Ambulance NI is the chosen Charity.

Carrowmena Activity Centre will be using the infamous Maize Maze to raise funds for Air Ambulance NI.

2020 has been a year to remember for many reasons. Due to COVID-19 all our 2020 events were cancelled which was utterly disappointing. We have missed them alot.

Then during it all, we tragically lost an old member of #TeamCarrowmena. Willis Vogel passed away on 31st May 2020 as a result of a motorbike hit and run accident. The air ambulance attended the scene on the day but unfortunately Willis did not get to make the trip.
Therefore we as a team, have decided to run a charity Maize Maze event, and our chosen Charity, for obvious reasons and now being so close to our hearts, will be Air Ambulance NI.

Willis worked in Carrowmena for many of years before following on to his greater ideas. He always was a go-getter and nothing would stop him.
You might remember him from the Limavady Show, Night Maize Maze, Hill walks, team games and many other activities he enjoyed instructing onsite.

His sister Christa and father Stevie also worked for Carrowmena Activity Centre, again for many years, so we treasure many many memories of Willis and his family at and on our site.

Carrowmena launched its Maize Maze in 2012 and the quirky activity grows in popularity with each new season, providing all ages with something different to enjoy each Summer. The Maize is a great challenge to take on any day this Summer.

Carrowmena Activity Centre “usually” hosts many events throughout the year with many guests making a ‘getaway’ of it in the various accommodation options such as Glamping Pods & Bell Tents. But this event is very different as its sole purpose will be to raise money with all proceeds going directly to the charity.

We have been open since Friday 10th July 2020 for the Season (Glamping/Bell tents/Camping ONLY due to COVID-19)

We are operating our Glamping Site inline with government guidelines for the safety of all our guests.

How long does it take?

Maize Maze can take anything between 30 mins – 70mins – just depends on how lucky or unlucky you are! Will you take the right path to get you out in a record-breaking time? (Average time is 45mins)
